How to Set Up a Fan Cam in vMix
Add Go Fan Cam as a browser source in vMix and get fan photos on your big screen in under 15 minutes. This guide also applies to OBS Studio, Tricaster, and any production software that supports browser inputs.
What You Need
- A Go Fan Cam account (Day Pass, Week Pass, or subscription)
- vMix, OBS Studio, Tricaster, or any browser source-compatible production software
- A display output (LED screen, projector, or stream)
- An internet connection
Step-by-Step Setup
Create Your Fan Cam Link
Log in to your Go Fan Cam dashboard and create a new fan cam link. Give it a name (e.g. "Main Screen" or "Halftime Cam"). Your link is now active and ready to configure.
Set Up Your Branding
Upload your club or event logo, set your brand colours, and choose a photo frame template or upload your own custom frame. Add sponsor logos with clickable URLs. All of this appears on both the fan's phone and the big screen output.
Copy Your Browser Source URL
In your link settings, find the Browser Source URL. This is the URL you'll paste into vMix. It looks like: https://gofancam.com/live/your-link-id. Copy it to your clipboard.
Add Browser Source in vMix
In vMix, click Add Input → More → Web Browser. Paste your Go Fan Cam browser source URL. Set the resolution to 1920×1080. Click OK. Your fan cam output is now a layer in your vMix production.
For OBS Studio: Add a Browser Source, paste the URL, set width to 1920 and height to 1080.
For Tricaster: Use the DDR or Web Browser input and paste the URL.
Position the Layer
Resize and position the fan cam layer in your vMix multiview as needed. Most venues run it full-screen during fan cam segments, then switch to other sources. The output has a transparent background by default, so you can also overlay it on top of other content.
Display Your QR Code
Your fan cam link has a permanent QR code. Display it on the big screen, print it on programmes, or add it to perimeter boards. When fans scan it, their phone camera opens instantly in the browser — no app download needed.
Go Live
Start a session from your admin dashboard. Fans scan the QR code and submit photos. You approve them in real time with one tap. Approved photos appear on the big screen via the browser source with smooth fade transitions. That's it — you're live.
Pro Tips
Set It Once
The browser source URL never changes between sessions or events. Set it up in vMix once and it works for every future match.
Test Before Matchday
Run a test session with a few photos before your first live event. Check the output looks correct on your screen resolution.
Two Display Modes
Switch between "Photos + Sponsors" mode (shows fan photos with branding) and "QR Only" mode (shows just the QR code to drive scans).
Mobile Admin
The admin dashboard works on your phone. Your matchday team can moderate photos from anywhere in the venue.
